Synopsis

Social Networks are increasing being cited as evidence in both criminal and HR disciplinary hearings without a repeatable technical framework for the lawful acquisition of evidence subject to their Terms of Service.

Therefore, a technical workflow has been created to establish a "profile" from social media which correlates the prepetrator to their accounts used for harassment, intimidation and stalking from real life examples

Modules

  1. Installing and configuration of the web browser, plug-ins and associated third party applications.
  2. Determining if the person(s) under investigation are member(s) of social networks or listed on the web, including "profiling" to detect impersonation.
  3. Retrieving current and archived information of the person(s) under investigation and their "friends" from the social networks and the web.
  4. Retrieving audio, photos, pictures, video using meta-data and removing obfuscation in order to extract evidence from the web and social networks, including those marked as private.
  5. Automation (i.e. without using a web browser) of the above processes and procedures.
  6. Lessons learnt from prior social network research.
